GSplat Importer for C4D v1.0 by TACTYC

Introducing the GSplat Importer for C4D & Redshift/Octane – a simple Cinema 4D plugin designed to effortlessly import .ply files containing Gaussian splat data into your scenes. With a streamlined workflow, GSplat Importer automatically builds optimized 3D geometry and assigns a custom, node-based Redshift material that renders super fast. You can relight everything with your RS Lights and integrate the Gsplat into your scene!
Perfect for motion graphics, visual effects, and architectural visualization, this plugin is finally bringing Gaussian Splats into Cinema4D and achieving stunning, production-ready results (depending on the quality of the imported Gsplat PLY's of course). Works best with .plys from Polycam. Other sources like postshot etc. are still experimental and might need some tweaking.

Installation Instructions:

Download the GSplat Importer plugin file/zip and unzip.

Place the unzipped plugin folder (GSplatImporter) into your Cinema 4D plugins directory.

Windows: C:\Program Files\Maxon Cinema 4D XXXX\plugins\

Mac: /Applications/Maxon/Cinema 4D XXXX/plugins/

Restart Cinema 4D to ensure the plugin is loaded. You should see GSplat Importer in the Extensions/Plugins menu.

Using the Plugin:

Open the GSplat Importer from the Plugins menu.

Use the file browser to select your .ply file.

Adjust parameters such as global scale, splat scale, and base orientation as needed (may need some trial and error)

Click “Import Splats” to automatically add the geometry and a pre-configured Redshift material into your scene.

In the download files there is a separate C4D project file with an octane material. Please use this instead of the RS Material if you want to use Octane.
